I have been sent some email attachments, which are videos in AVI format. I can only play the sound using Media Player, and constantly get the error message 'Unable to find the decompressor'.
I thought I might upgrade Media Player, but I'm not sure if this would solve the problem or how to go about it. Can you help?
Upgrading might solve your predicament, but it may not be necessary. The problem is much more likely to be that video decompression is missing from your system. However, installing this feature is a straightforward procedure.
Simply open Control Panel, click on the Windows Setup tab and select Multimedia from the list of components. Click the Details button then scroll down the list and simply check the box beside Video Compression. Click ok to close the dialog boxes. Windows will ask for the CD and install the missing components.
